Our first delivery of aid to Belarus under our new identity, Chernobyl Aid UK, left UK in late November 2014. Paul Campey drove his own unit and trailer across Europe to the city of Gomel in the east of Belarus and just 30 miles from the border with Russia. Paul’s load of 11 tonnes of a wide range of aid was received by the Gomel district Education department who have the responsibility for all schools, institutions for the disabled, social centres and individual needy families. In total almost 10000 children will benefit from the delivery either directly to their families or to their school or institution.
The load contained pampers and incontinent pads, walking frames and wheelchairs, warm clothing, bedding and foot wear, washing powder and toiletries, sports and educational equipment, furniture, paper and pencils, craft items . kitchen utensils etc.
Paul returned to base in early December – Job done and another successful delivery made.
